Dr. R. A. Purnachandra Tejaswi is a Director and Head, Department of Sports Orthopaedics, Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service, Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad. He is a specialist in Sports Medicine, Reconstructive Arthroscopy, and Joint Preservation Surgery of the Shoulder, Hip, and Knee. He has dedicated his career to his patients by constantly striving to innovate and make procedures less invasive, with smaller incisions, less pain, and shorter recovery times.
Dr. R. A. Purnachandra Tejaswi is dedicated to the advancement of his speciality and has developed innovative surgical techniques, such as minimally invasive arthroscopic alternatives to some of the most difficult problems of the shoulder, hip, and knee. Dr. Tejaswi’s surgical innovations include treatment for irreparable massive rotator cuff tears, recurrent shoulder dislocations with bone loss, as well as the use of modern bioscaffold technology to enhance cartilage regeneration in the hip, preventing arthritis and additional hip injuries in adults.
Dr. R. A. Purnachandra Tejaswi earned his medical degree at Government Medical College, Mysore, and his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Manipal University. He also completed short fellowships in hip and shoulder surgery in Dresden, Germany, Rome, and Italy. He finished his one-year specialisation in Hip and Knee reconstructive surgery at ATOS Klinic in Heidelberg, Germany from 2017-2018 and went on to finish a one-year clinical fellowship in Sports Medicine, Reconstructive Arthroscopy, and Joint Preservation Surgery of Shoulder, Hip, and Knee at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. Dr. Tejaswi was named a Fellow of the Arthroscopic Association of Canada in June 2019.
Dr. R. A. Purnachandra Tejaswi is constantly striving to improve patient outcomes through the development of new and improved methods of reconstructing, repairing, and preventing degeneration. He is currently conducting research to evaluate surgical outcomes, improve current techniques, and advance orthopaedic surgery outcomes on a larger scale. Dr. Tejaswi has also published and presented his research and novel techniques at an international level.
